Importance of education in the modern world

There is a saying that “Education leads to success, knowledge, and innovation”. I believe that education leads to peace of mind and prosperity. One may argue that you are wrong because it doesn’t work out in the long run but I will try to refute their argument in this article by arguing that education is important today as well as in the future.

There is no doubt that modern civilization has advanced beyond physical capabilities such that we have become even more dependent on technology in the last hundred years. We still believe that technology is not good for everyone however many people still don’t take into account that other factors make an individual or a group vulnerable to risk which technology could never have predicted.

Some may say that technology itself is good for everyone regardless of age or gender that is completely correct. However, if this is the truth then why can’t education? Why can’t we protect our children from this type of risk by educating them on how to keep away from dangerous situations such as drugs or firearms. This way they are also able to avoid their problems such as poverty.

When I was growing up, my parents taught me that education led to freedom and later liberty. It gave me the tools and skills to be independent, to choose what I wanted to do in life without pressure, and to learn new things as a result of being educated. A large part of education that I remember from my childhood is reading which enabled me to understand things such as science and math.

My understanding of history can be best explained by examining one aspect of society - social norms. Throughout time, I have seen many different cultures throughout the world based on how they valued and protected certain beliefs. For example: in East Asia, in Western Europe, across all the continents and regions, religion plays a fundamental role. People of all walks of life have their own religious beliefs but the common factor is just that these are just how humanity came together and decided not to go against the current set of beliefs and laws. As much as modern science and technology have made our lives easier than ever, I think it would be better to educate our youth not only on these factors of life, like the world around us and how it works but so that they understand the differences between cultural values and their impact on each person and group of people in the end. Also, not everyone should be exposed to violence in the same way. In my opinion, education should be separated from political activities because the two often get confused. My parents always told me that education should not be imposed on anyone. By simply allowing it to take place, it will lead our people towards anarchy and this could cause further conflict over landmines.

In conclusion, I hope that education can help bring harmony between our various religions, beliefs, and culture. I also hope to see that it does not start becoming the main focus of politicians although education and politics should never be forgotten.

Peace to You and Love with Your Family and Friends,
